The Form of a Former Self
ミクストメディア（コラージュ、蛇の抜け殻、独楽）
私は、個人的な経験を繰り返し再解釈・翻案することで異なる因果の可能性を探究するミクストメディア作品を制作してきました。今回は、身体の成長と記憶の変容によって生じた「体感と記録のギャップ」に着目し、医療用コルセット・蛇の抜け殻・記念写真といった、かつての自己の痕跡をモチーフに、中身の抜けた外殻とそれでもなお保たれる「形態」について思索します。中身のない着ぐるみのような空虚さは、想像力による移入を可能にすると同時に、外側からの微かな刺激により形態があっけなく崩れる可能性をも孕みます。

I create mixed-media works that explore alternative causal possibilities by repeatedly reinterpreting and adapting my personal experiences.
For this exhibition, I focus on the gap between physical sensation and recorded memory caused by bodily growth and the transformation of memory. Using remnants of a former self—such as a medical corset, shed snake skin, and old photographs—as motifs, I contemplate the empty outer shell and the form that is nonetheless maintained (or preserved).
The hollowness, akin to that of an empty costume (or kigurumi), both allows for imaginative entry and contains the possibility that the form could abruptly collapse from the slightest external stimulus.
